Post-Traumatic Arthritis

Symptoms

• Pain, stiffness, and swelling in the affected joint after an injury
• Decreased range of motion
• Grinding or cracking sensation when the joint is moved

Causes

• Previous joint injury or trauma, such as a fracture, dislocation, or ligament tear, can damage the joint surfaces and cause abnormal wear and tear or joint dysfunction, leading to post-traumatic arthritis
